I’m somewhat new to the self tanner game here. I have olive skin and have been tan my ENTIRE life. When I was younger, I would maybe lay out once or twice during the summer and that was enough to go from slightly pale to bronze. Now that I’m working full time, the natural tan has gone bye-bye, and I have turned to self tanners.
I remember being at out friends wedding and looking at my legs thinking, are those glowing (not in a good way)?! It was at that point I knew that self tanner would be my next best friend. Since then, I have tried about three different brands of self tanner and have received three spray tans. I’m a huge fan of spray tans, but they can be a hassle and can add up. Self tanner is definitely the most economical and efficient way to get that bronze look you desire.
I was so excited when Tanceuticals wanted to collaborate. I have seen other bloggers use their products and only have wonderful things to say. I was fortunate enough to try their Mousse CC Self Tanning Kit, Dark which comes with the CC Self Tanning Body Mouse Dark, CC Self Tanning Face Lotion Dark, and the Luxurious Tanning Mitt.
Their products not only are made to give you a great tan, but they also help improve the texture of your skin and won’t cause acne. It’s no wonder they were rated the #1 self tanner on selftanning.com – see top 10 self tanners here. When trying these products out for the first time, I made sure to pay attention to: the smell, the texture, the color change, how long the tan lasts, and the price.
These products smell AMAZING. Other tanning products always have a certain “fake tanner” smell to them, but these do not. These smell like coconut! The texture of the mousse and lotion is really nice. I like using tanning mousse for my body because it is easier to put on and does not cause streaks.
At first I tried putting on one layer of the mousse and face lotion, but my over all tan wasn’t as dark as I had hoped. Like I said earlier, I’m used to being really tan, so I want my self-tanner to make me look that way. For the mousse, I would definitely recommend putting on at least two layers to reach that bronzed-tan look. If you like being just a few shades darker than normal, one layer of mousse will be perfect for you! You only need to put one layer of face lotion on. That stuff goes a long way, so make sure you don’t go over board.
The Mousse CC Self Tanning Kit, Dark is priced at $50. This may seem like a lot for a self tanner kit, BUT it is important to purchase a really good self tanner or else you may look orange and have a streaks. The really good self tanner brands that you find at Ulta and Sephora actually cost around $40 not including a face tanner or a mitt.
So far, I’m loving how well this self-tanner is staying on. I applied the face lotion and mousse on Monday night, and still look pretty tan today! Overall, I would definitely recommend the Tanceuticals Self Tanner products. The smell great, provide a great looking tan that lasts, and are priced really well.
Here’s a before and after shot so you can see how great this self tanner looks on (sorry the lighting isn’t the greatest)!
