Happy 2018! I can’t believe its the 10th and this is my first post of the year! Needless to say, life has been extremely hectic…even more so than usual. Sometimes when you need a break, it’s SO important to take one. I know I was burning the candle at both ends with the holidays, work and blogging so I just had to let myself relax. I know staying on top of blogging can be so stressful and fun, but the second you feel that it is causing more stress instead of joy, it’s important to take a break.With that being said, hopefully things will be a little calmer as time goes on so I can get back into my “two-post per week” schedule 🙂
Now that I have poured out my current life sitch, lets move on to styling a statement coat! This is one of my favorite pieces to style because it is SO easy. The statement coat is the centerpiece of the outfit so everything surrounding it should be complimentary. Choose simple jeans or solid colored pants that do not interfere. You could even wear tights, but make sure they are simple and do not compete with the coat.
Choose shoes that compliment the coat. I chose a gray pair of Mary Janes to wear with my statement coat. The gray in my heels compliments the black and gray/nude tones of the coat. If you are wearing a colorful statement coat, choose shoes that match one of the colors in the coat or wear a neutral colored shoe such as nude or black.
Because the statement coat is the centerpiece of your outfit, you may need to splurge a little. This piece of your outfit will stand out so you want to make sure it looks nice and is high quality. Anthropolgie and Mod Cloth have some beautiful statement coats. Some are super-splurges while others are still a splurge, but are more reasonably priced.
