Happy Wednesday! I can’t believe we are already half way through the week (insert dancing emoji here). As some of you know, Eric and I went on a little mini vacation with some friends this past weekend to Lake Arrowhead. Lake Arrowhead is a small town on a mountain in San Bernardino County which is about an hour and 45 minutes away from where we live. I feel pretty lucky to live in a place where I can see the ocean one day and experience snow and crisp mountain air the next.
We stayed in a cabin that my friend’s husband found on Airbnb and it was perfect. The place was very homey and has lots of space; perfect for 2 couples. We spent most of our time relaxing, hiking and exploring. We actually hiked two trails during our stay and I would recommend both of them. The first was called the Heart Rock Trail. This was the more strenuous of the two, but definitely nothing crazy. The hike goes through the forest on a long a rocky/dirt trail to the end where there is a waterfall and a rock formation shaped like a heart.
The second trail was one that went around Lake Gregory. This trail was easier and flatter. This one had more lake views and was really enjoyable. I loved seeing the huge pine trees by the lake.
Since our cabin had a kitchen, we tried to cook most of the time. There’s plenty of grocery stores up on the mountain, but they are a little more pricey than those that are down the mountain. If you are planning a trip to Lake Arrowhead, I would recommend purchasing groceries prior to going up the mountain to save some money.
While we cooked most of our meals, we did end up eating out a few times. We got sandwiches from Goodwin’s Market in Lake Gregory and they were amazing. Eric and I ate the “Gobbler” and it was super yummy. We also ate at a place called Woody’s Boat House Restaurant. I had the Blue Bayou Burger which was pretty good. Was it the best hamburger ever? No, but it wasn’t too expensive and the food was not bad. The last restaurant we went to, The Lakefront Tap Room Bar and Kitchen, was my favorite place. Their food was amazing and not too pricey. I had the BBQ burger with grilled chicken instead of a burger patty and it was BOMB. I would definitely recommend this place if you are visiting Arrowhead.
If any of you are considering taking a vacation and live in Southern California, you should definitely consider staying in Lake Arrowhead. Hopefully this travel post helps you when planning your trip 🙂
