We are less than 2 weeks away from Christmas and I am beyond excited!!! I have been slowly decorating our apartment since December 1st because life during the holiday seasons is SO BUSY. I am excited to say that our apartment is officially fully decorated!
It can be tough decorating a small space without adding clutter. That’s why I have a few tips to make your apartment {or small space} feel Christmas-y without being overwhelming.
First, pick a color theme. I love red, gold and burlap. Most recently, I have fallen in love with the buffalo check pattern and have been incorporating it more into my decor. Each year I add a few more pieces to collection, but always stick to that color theme.
Start with your table. This is the easiest place to add decor because the middle of the table is an open space. A nice table runner would be cute, but I decided to go with a small garland center piece {similar one here}. I bought my center piece from Hobby Lobby for $20. They are actually having a 50% off all Christmas decor sale right now! I also added a few single floral and twig pieces to make the center piece look larger. Overall, I spent about $30 on this entire center piece which is a lot cheaper than most center pieces.
Next, add decor to your entertainment system. This another space where we usually put photos or candles. It’s a space where you can change decor frequently. We put a table runner {love this one} across the top and switched out our picture frames for pine cones and reindeer. This is also a great place to hang stockings. I wish we had a fire place, but unfortunately most apartments don’t. So, I hung our stockings on the knobs of each cabinet. I would eventually love to get stocking holders like these, but we don’t have enough room yet.
Next, add smaller pieces of decor to side tables and night stands. I found my mini tree at Hobby Lobby last year {similar one here and here} and added some mini portable lights. These lights are battery powered so they are easy to move around. I also love putting large red ornaments around my apartment for an extra touch. I actually place them free-standing on gold napkin holders so they don’t roll away.
Lastly, make sure you have some pieces hanging on your wall. A cute Christmas picture frame, wreath or christmas lights are perfect items to hang on walls. I made my wreath two years ago, and love it putting it up each year. It especially looks nice next to our clock. We got this as a gift for our wedding and have it hung up year round.
I hope the helps make decorating a small space much easier! Remember, less is more when you are working in small areas like apartments. You want your place to look festive without being too overwhelming.
Verse of the Day: “For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest of His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” – Isaiah 9:6. It blows my mind that Isaiah was written so long before Jesus even came to this world. So thankful that God always fulfills His promises!
