Happy Wednesday! First off, I need to start by saying I am OBSESSED with Hobby Lobby. They have everything you could possibly need for home decor at such a great price. Hubs and I went shopping for fall decor a little while ago and everything was 40% off! They are actually still having this 40% off fall decor sale so, if you live by a Hobby Lobby, you HAVE to go there ASAP.
I have seen a few fall wreaths on Pinterest and in stores, and I knew that I wanted to create my own. I enjoy DIY projects because they are so therapeutic and I love creating pretty things. I guess I have always had a creative mind. I began drawing when I was very young, and learned to sew when I was 14. Ever since then, I always try to do a project for each holiday season.
I bought all of my wreath decor from Hobby Lobby however, you can purchase similar items at Michaels, Target or any other arts and crafts store. I purchased a twig wreath as my base, many different types of fake fall flowers/mini arrangements, and some fall ribbon. I didn’t end up using the ribbon, but I may add it later.
I wanted my wreath to have many different types of fall items so I chose mini arrangements with sunflowers, acorns, pumpkins, etc. I also made sure that each arrangement had small wires in the stems and leaves. These wires allow you to move each piece in any way making arranging much less difficult. The twig wreath was very easy to decorate because you can just intertwine each arrangement within the twigs. I didn’t even need glue or twist ties.
There are many ways you can arrange your decor on a wreath. I wanted the decor to cover one side of my wreath versus on the top or bottom however, you can place your decor whichever way you would like! I began intertwining arrangements on the outsides and moved in. It was easier to fill in the “empty” spots when I started on the outside.
This project costed about $30 after the 40% off discount at Hobby Lobby, and only took about 30 minutes. I was actually surprised how quickly this came together! It’s such a fun and easy project you can do during the day with kids or at night after work.
Now we have a gorgeous fall wreath hanging on our door! If you are thinking of making a wreath or have already made one, I would love to hear your tips and tricks on the comments below 🙂
