First I have to start by saying, I really wasn’t into the denim on denim look initially. I felt like it was too matchy matchy. Since it became a huge trend and is everywhere, I have started to like the style more and more. I have seen denim paired with denim many different ways. In my opinion, there are ways where it can be done very well and of course ways where it looks like you just came from a party with the denim fairy.
Because wearing this denim combo could go either way, I have created a few ways to make sure your denim look is seamless while not being over done.
Tips:
1.Wear two different types of colored denim. I have seen people wear denim pants in one color and a denim top in the same EXACT color. This to me, is way too matchy matchy. Obviously, some people may pull it off, but I just feel like it would be overkill if my jean jacket is the same color as my pants. There are many different types of blue-colored jeans and even some white and some black that would go well together as long as they aren’t the same color.
2.Compliment the look with colorful accessories. Most denim on denim looks are usually done with blue denim. This type on outfit creates an all blue look. To break it up, add in some fun pieces of jewelry like these tassel bracelets, or a vibrant pair of shoes. You could even where a cognac or eggplant colored purse for the upcoming fall season.
3.Pair in some chambray. Yes, technically chambray is denim however, the material is much thinner and less rigid. In my look today, I am wear a chambray top. This creates a contrast between the two pieces of clothing while still keeping a cohesive denim look.
4.Dress it up or down. I love taking casual outfits and wearing them with sneakers during the day and then changing it up with some jewelry and heels at night. An all denim look is a perfect transitional day to night outfit. To dress it down, you can wear a pair of sneakers with your shirt tied up like mine is in this post OR you can wear a satin tank, denim jacket and a pair of ankle strap heels for a dressier look.
5.Add a patterned vest or sweater. A vest or sweater will only work if you are wear a denim top (a jean jacket may be too bulky). I suggest pairing an all denim outfit with a patterned vest or sweater because it breaks up all of the blue and adds in a fun element. I would add this vest or this sweater to my denim on denim look.

For today’s encouragement, I want to share a verse that seems to be more of a prayer to me. “Give me understanding, so that I may keep Your law and obey it with all my heart.” -Psalms 119:34. If you have ever read the Bible then you know there are some things that are TOUGH to understand. This verse is a reminder to continually seek the Holy Spirit’s understanding so that we may live in obedience to God and experience all He has planned for us. How awesome is that!?
I hope this guide gives you a little more insight on how to create the perfect denim on denim look while encouraging you in faith! Enjoy your Wednesday 🙂
