Last week was pretty rough on me so I figured this would be a great time to share a post that’s a bit different than usual. Recently, I have been thinking a lot about writing a blog post on being content. After events last week, it seems to be perfect timing. Last Monday, I was knocked down pretty bad, I had been training a dietetic intern all week on top of my normal job, and we have had terrible fires in SoCal that are extremely close to my family and friends. Needless to say, it was a pretty trying and stressful week.
This world teaches us that we need to have the best job, the biggest house, the perfect marriage (or lack there of because “why make that big of a commitment when you don’t have to”), perfect children; the list goes on and on. Over the years, I have learned that pleasing the ways of world will get me nowhere, and that finding my content in worldly things leads to emptiness. Some people will try to knock you down the second they see you become successful. You will be told lies only to make you feel that you are insufficient. While it is almost impossible to avoid pain in life, it is so important to remember where our value lies and focus on our blessings.
My mom actually reminded me of this verse last week in loo of everything going wrong. “I have told you these things, so that in me you will have peace. In this world you WILL have trouble. But take heart! I have OVERCOME the world.” – John 16:33. I remember reading this verse in college for what seemed to be the first time. I remember crying because these words are so powerful. Jesus tells us we WILL have trouble in this world. We are not guaranteed a stress-free life, BUT we can count on our strength being in Him. We can survive these difficulties because He who is in us is SO much bigger than he who is in the world.
If you are going through a rough time or feel that the world keeps kicking you down, pray and ask for strength. If you focus on how you are blessed, I promise all troubles will start to pass and you’ll notice your point of view begin to change.
I have always wanted this blog to be a fun, girly place and now, would love it to be an encouraging place as well. If you are in need of any prayer or encouragement, feel free to email me! I would love to help in any way I can 🙂

Thank you so much for sharing this! I think it is so important, especially in the world of social media where comparison can take over, to stay grounded. I think that fun and girly go hand in hand with encouraging. This was a perfect read to start my week.
