As most of you know, Hubs and I took a weekend trip up to Big Bear this past weekend! We rented a cabin with my friend and her husband and had an absolute blast! Eric had actually never been to Big Bear before this trip. If you aren’t familiar with Southern California, Big Bear is a town on a mountain that’s about 1.5-2 hours away from Orange County. Its a great travel location because it’s not too far and is the exact opposite of the typical Southern California beaches you usually think of.
We all packed in the car and drove up the mountain Friday night. Hubs was so good driving up the mountain in the dark – so scary! We stayed in a cute little red cabin. It wasn’t the typical log cabin you would think of in the mountains, but it did have a “cabin chic” feel to it. I wish I would have taken a picture of the inside to show you all because it was so adorable!
Saturday morning started off with a yummy breakfast at the Grind and Grill Cafe. This place is the cutest “mom and pop cafe.” The food was really yummy, but kind of heavy. I may or may not have eaten a little too much 😉
After breakfast, we hiked the “Castle Rock Trail” which is a MUST whenever you visit Big Bear. Eric and I were definitely out of shape for this hike, but we made it! There is an amazing view of Big Bear Lake at the top of the hike. One that I will never forget.
After the hike, we walked around the main street and went in all of the cute shops. If you followed my Insta stories then you know I was drooling over all of the Christmas decor 🙂
The rest of the day was spent relaxing with lots of laughter and good conversation. Sometimes it’s nice to get away with friends, experience new places and just enjoy God’s creation. If you are in the Southern California area and are looking for cooler temps and new scenery, make sure you check out Big Bear!
Verse of the day: “In His hands are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land.” – Psalm 95:4-5
