A Pink Dress and a Milestone

Happy Wednesday everyone! Get ready for a long post 🙂 I am so excited to share that I was officially accepted into the Reward Style family! Things have been a whirlwind around here and it feels like I have been working double time with a full time job, being a wife and blogging. To me, being accepted into Reward Style was a HUGE milestone and an answer to prayers. It may seem silly to you, but I had pre-planned this blog for 4-5 months before I actually started. During that time a lot of research and careful thoughts went in to creating this creative space. During that time, I also experienced fear. Fear of failure and fear of the unknown. I think the fear is what kept me from starting for so long. When I began this past October, I had a few goals set in mind: reach 1K Instagram followers, participate in clothing and/or accessory collaborations, become a part of Liketoknow.it (or Reward Style)… the list goes on and on. I am ecstatic to say that in the short time I have been blogging, I have hit all three of these goals!

Reward Style is a website that allows you to monetize your blog. They give tools that make it easy for your Instagram followers and blog readers to find the exact product you are wearing. For those of you who are looking to get into Reward Style, here are some tips that have helped me:

1. Create good content that you love. First and foremost, create content YOU love. Don’t try to be anyone else other than yourself. Good content (photos) is always key. Most of the time, I am using my iPhone for photos, but then that means Hubs and I really have to work on lighting. More recently I have used my sister’s Canon DSLR for photos, and I can definitely see a difference. I am hoping to get a nicer camera soon (hint hint Hubs ;).
2. Consistency and timing are key. When I first started blogging, I would write blog posts on a whim and post on Instagram whenever I had time. I quickly figured out that would not help me grow. I now pre-plan blog posts as well as Instagram posts and try to launch them at consistent times.
3. Contact other bloggers! This one has helped me so much. At first I was so scared to contact other bloggers, ask for advice, etc. A little while after I launched, I gained a blogger friend and she really encouraged me to be more outgoing when it comes to blogger interaction. I have met so many great ladies who give me tips and encourage me through this journey! If you are scared like I was, give it a try. Every single blogger I have reached out to has been SO nice.
4. Make sure you are engaging on all platforms.  I currently have a blog, Pinterest and an Instagram. It is so important to engage (like/comment) on all platforms, especially Instagram. The new algorithm has changed the way Instagram works. Because of this change, if you aren’t engaging it is likely that your photos are not being seen. You would probably laugh at the amount of time I spend engaging and supporting other bloggers (it is hours btw). I would say this tip is possibly the most important aside from contacting other bloggers.

I hope these tips inspire you on your own blog journey. I know these kinds of posts really helped me when I was starting out. By no means do I consider myself an expert, I actually consider myself a “newby” still trying to navigate this blog world, but I figured I would share the little that I have learned.

I usually share a verse of the day because I find my joy and hope in Christ, and I want to encourage you in that way as well. The best way I know how to do that is through verses that speak wisdom (which is all of them, but I only have space for one). Today’s verse of the day is “”For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plan to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
