I can’t believe today is my 27th birthday! It seems like it was yesterday when I was celebrating my 21st birthday. 27 is an interesting age because I feel like I am too young to some things like have kids, but I also feel like I’m old because I love going to bed at 9pm, I am still trying to figure out what ICYMI and TBH mean, and Eric and I would take a night in over a late night out ANY day. I guess I’m just an old soul in general. Eric always tells me not to worry about getting older, but sometimes I can’t help it. It seems silly that 27 would be a big deal, but I did some thinking and instead of being worried about growing up and getting older, I decided to change my perspective and focus on the things I’m thankful for. So today, I am sharing 27 things I am thankful for!
1.Jesus. Faith is super important to me and I’m thankful for Him who saved me, If you follow along here, then you know I share a verse of the day on every post. My favorite verse of all time is John 33:16 and it says: “I have told you these things so that in Me you have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart, I have overcome the world.”
2.Eric aka Hubby. My best buddy of all time! Words cannot describe how thankful I am for this man. The blog was a big project I took on awhile ago and it’s required a lot of Eric’s time. Despite this, he has always been supportive and helps me make my dreams come true.
3. Parents. I am so thankful for these guys. They worked so hard to give me and my sisters an amazing life. They are so loving and would do anything for me and my family. They always put Jesus first and family next which is exactly how I want to live my life. Shout out to my mom who has been filling in as photographer recently.
4.Sisters. I never realized what a blessing it was to have sisters until recently. My sisters and I have got along for the majority of our lives, but as I get older, I see the value in having sisters to share life with. I have two sisters and we are always laughing hysterically every time we get together.
5.Grandma. My grandma is probably one of the coolest people I know. I sincerely hope to be just like her someday. She loves Jesus and is kind to everyone she meets.
6. In-Laws. I truly have the most amazing in-laws and my mother in law is probably reading this right now so shout out to her <3 They did such an amazing job of raising my husband and do such an amazing job of supporting our marriage. I am so thankful for them!
7.Friends. I think everyone can attest to the value of a good friend and boy, have I been blessed. Unfortunately, life takes us through ups and downs and some friendships fade along the way. But the good friends will always be there. I can honestly say that I have a few friends who are like sisters to me and for that I am SO thankful.
8.Health. This is another one I find myself thanking God for more and more everyday. As most of you know, I work in a hospital and health is no joke. I have seen so many families lose loved ones and I couldn’t be for grateful to have a healthy husband, family and friends.
9.Quiet times. These are the moments I spend with God. I use this time to express my thankfulness and reflect on ways I can become a better person.
10.Job. Of course we all grow up and get jobs after we finish school, but I absolutely love my job as a Registered Dietitian. Yes, I have rough days at the hospital and working weekends is not fun, but I’m so thankful to have a job that helps people. I am NEVER bored and constantly learning new things which makes my job that much more fun!
11.Coworkers. With my amazing jobs comes amazing coworkers. I have actually made so many great friendships through work and for that I am grateful!
Here’s the part of the post where I have to share my love for food. sometimes there is just nothing better than some yummy food!
12.Poke Bowls. This kind of goes without saying, but there isn’t much better than a good poke bowl. And fish is super healthy for you!
13.Captain Crunch Ice Cream from Sprinkles. Yes, I just said Captain Crunch ice cream and yes, it’s just as amazing as it sounds. Sprinkles ice cream is one of mine and Eric’s favorite dessert and this ice cream is just unbeatable.
14.See’s Candy. This is actually my favorite candy OF ALL TIME. It seems funny to by thankful for chocolate, but honestly a good box of See’s Candy bring me SO much joy!
15.Nutrition. I am thankful for the study of Nutrition because this allows me to have a job in the preventative health care sector. You guys, If you have never read up on the benefits of food, you totally should {make sure the articles are reputable, from someone who actually is educated on the subject ie. a Registered Dietitian} because it will rock your world. There are so many ways we can better our health just by changing the foods we eat. I don’t share much about nutrition here, but maybe I will share more in the future.
16.Anthropologie and Nordstrom Sales. Because I am on a shopping budget, sales are my favorite! Kind of cheesy to be thankful for sales, but I really feel like it’s a time where I can purchase things I love that still fit into my budget.
17. The little things. Like a cute teapot or a candle that makes our apartment smell amazing. I find joy in these little details that make life that much more enjoyable.
18. Hardships. There are many verses in the Bible that mention adversity and the “refining” it does. Adversity is never enjoyable, but I have seen the good that comes from hardships and for that, I am grateful.
19.Weekends off. Until you work weekends continuously, you will never truly understand the amazing-ness of a full weekend off. Since working at the hospital, I have increasingly appreciated my weekends off.
20.Getting married young. Ever since I was little, my family and I thought I would get married young, and it was the best decision I ever made. Eric and I love doing life together and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
21.Planners. This is my type-A personality talking. I love organization and yearly planners are the best when it comes to that. If you are thinking of starting a blog, absolutely get a planner! It will change your life.
22.Music. Gotta add this one in here because last night, my sister and I went to Ed Sheehan and has THE BEST time ever! There is something amazing when feelings are created through music. I wish I was more musically inclined, I really just sing in the car with the radio and when I’m cleaning my house. Who knows maybe I’ll pick up an instrument in the near future.
23.Our Country and the men and women who fight to keep it safe. I am so thankful for this amazing country I live in. To walk out and be safe to travel, to say what I want and to have a place where I can freely practice my faith is a blessing many take for granted. Not everyone in the world is so lucky and I know this freedom is only allowed because brave men and women choose to give up their lives for it.
24.Makeup. You may think this is superficial, but I actually love makeup. I have loved it ever since I was a little girl. I get super excited whenever I get a new eyeshadow palette or a new lipstick.
25.Travels. I have been so fortunate to see many places of this world. I have so many memories of visiting far off lands with my family. I really believe that traveling helps you learn about yourself and become a better person.
26.Living by the Beach. This is definitely something I am so thankful for. Eric and I spend a lot of time walking on the sand and just listening to the waves. This is probably something we won’t be able to do forever, but for now I enjoy it so much!
27. Last but certainly not least, I am thankful for this blog. This space of freedom to write what I want. For the self doubt and self consciousness that comes withs sharing my inner thoughts. These doubts only brought on perseverance and confidence. Putting yourself out there allows for a time for growth which has been amazing for me.
WHEW. I’m not going to lie, thinking of 27 things I’m thankful for was tough! When I was creating my list, fears of embarrassment or self consciousness crept in, but I decided to share anyway. We all have different things that bring us joy and thats ok. I hope you enjoyed my post today and I hope everyone has a great Sunday!
