This weekend marks the end of my birthday celebration week. No, I’m not the kind of person that usually celebrates my entire birthday week however, plans just worked out that way. It was so nice doing something fun each day whether it was for my birthday or not. I attended a Sephora makeup class with my friend on Monday, ate yummy tacos and margaritas on Tuesday, had a pedicure Wednesday, a manicure with my friend on Thursday and then I had my hair cut yesterday! Busy week, but awesome at the same time!
In honor of my 26th birthday, I wanted to share 26 things you may not know about me! For those of you who have been reading along for awhile, you may already know some of these things, but we will see 🙂
.My real name is actually Morgan Elizabeth, not Elizabeth Morgan. I chose to write under an alias because ever since I was 10 years old, I dreamed of creating a fashion company and clothing line. My last name at the time was waaaaay too long to be part of the fashion industry, so I created the name “Elizabeth Morgan.” I never did get a business degree or attend fashion school because I chose science and nutrition instead (funny how things change), but I still wanted to keep my beloved fashion name for this creative space.
2. I am, and forever will be a Christian. Some of you may know this already because I try to post a verse of the day on every blog post. I grew up in a Christian family, but my faith really became my own in college. God’s love and grace is an amazing gift and all you have to do is accept Him as Lord to receive it. I try to live every day in prayer, remembering that He will guide and protect me in this life. Today’s verse of the day is “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” – 1 Corinthians 1:18.
.I am the oldest of 2 sisters and have no brothers. My house was crazy growing up to say the least. With 4 women + my dad running around, there was (and still is) NEVER a dull moment. I think it would have been fun to have a brother, but my sisters are the funniest little buddies ever. I can definitely say that they are two of my best friends.
.I got married when I was 23 years old. I actually LOVE being married. Is it difficult sometimes? Absolutely, but it is so much fun 99% of the time. Both Hubs and I wouldn’t have changed the fact that we got married so young for anything.
.I am a Registered Dietitian and work at an acute care hospital. This may seem different to you because this is solely a style blog. I have thought about incorporating nutrition into my little internet space, but am not sure if I want to tackle that beast yet. I would love to know your opinion on whether you think I should add nutrition into this blog!
.My first job was a lifeguard at a waterpark in Orange County. I swam on the swim team in high school, so I was hired as a “deep water guard” to watch over the 9ft+ pools. You would be SHOCKED at the amount of people I actually had to save during my lifeguard days. Too many to count. You would think that those who go to a waterpark would know how to swim, but nope. It was definitely a stressful, yet fun job.
.I have THE curliest hair you will ever see. I like to style my hair differently all the time, so some of you may not be familiar with my natural curly hair. It took me about 18 years to figure out how to style it and let me tell you, curly hair has a mind of it’s own. I have found that this product helps my curls be more defined and way less frizzy.
.I am super type A most of the time. Even in this post, I have put my facts in order by theme: life facts, entertainment facts, food facts, work facts, etc. I honestly didn’t even realize until half way through this post. I guess it’s good to be organized? Anyone else a type A personality?
.I have always been a girly girl. There are pictures of me “putting on makeup” in my Beauty and the Beast princess dress when I was 3 years old. I have always loved, bows, ruffles, glitter and all things pink! Although I am very girly, I’m not afraid of the outdoors. I actually love being active outside as much as getting dressed up and going out.
.I am very outgoing and never shut up 😉 Ok, a little dramatic, but this statement is mostly true. I was always the one getting in trouble for talking and even now at work, I have to watch myself.
.The Bachelor shows are my favorite. Yes, guiltiest pleasure ever BUT that show is THE BEST. I thought Rachel’s season was interesting. Not really a fan of the ending, but I hope they are happy together. I’m currently watching Bachelor in Paradise, and I’m excited to see how relationships begin to unfold.
.I love kid movies! Eric always says I’m like a little kid (insert laughing/crying emoji here) and he is totally correct haha! Usually kid movies are funny, heart warming and lively. Why wouldn’t anyone love kid movies?! My favorite kid movie right now is Moana. If you haven’t seen this movie, you HAVE to! It’s on Netflix so go watch it right after you read this post!
.I don’t like reading books, but I do enjoy reading research articles. NERD ALERT right here! I’m one of those people who read a little bit into a book, get bored and skip to the end (my sister is going to cringe when she reads that). I guess I was forced to read research in college, and I actually enjoy it. Scientific research is always changing, so it’s cool to learn about the newest findings. Ok, I’ll stop boring you now.
.Mexican Food is probably my favorite ever. I am so content with some tacos, chips and salsa and a yummy margarita. There’s this restaurant in Newport called Sol Cocina and they serve the best spicy, pineapple margarita!
.Country music is my favorite. I also really like mainstream, but nothing beats Country. My favorite artists currently are Florida Georgia Line and Sam Hunt! I’m actually going to see FGL in concert in October!
.I really want to travel to Ireland and England or anywhere in Europe. I have had the privilege of traveling a little bit in my lifetime, but I really want to travel to Europe with Hubs. He studied abroad in Prague during college, so hopefully we will take a trip there sometime in the future!
.I am a dog person. I think this one goes way back to when I was a kid. My dad is highly allergic to cats. I mean, even if you held a cat 8 hours ago and sat next to my dad, he would start sneezing. So obviously, we never had cats growing up. I have had 2 dogs in my lifetime: Whitney was our first Sheltie and Nikki is our current Sheltie. Poor little buddy is 12 years old now. I get super nervous about her future and health. She’s pretty spunky so I think shell be around for awhile longer.
.I don’t know how to whistle. This one is such a bummer. Total FOMO here, but I seriously cannot whistle. I have tried and it does not work. If you have any tips on learning how to whistle, let me know!
.I have never dyed my hair. Shocking right?! I have always loved the color of my hair. It’s a very dark brown, but can appear to be different colors in the sunlight. Eventually, I will dye my hair (because gray hair, no thanks), but for now it’s kind of a cool thing to have “virgin hair.”
.I love having my nails painted with fun colors and designs. If you watched my Instagram story this week, then you know how crazy (and awesome) my pedicure is. I discovered Unique Nails when I was in high school and have been going there ever since. If you live in the Orange County area and are looking for a great nail salon, you have to go here!
.I love both heels and sneakers. This is where my girly girl and adventurous side comes together. Some day’s, heels take my outfit to the next level while other days, I’m wearing sneakers and that’s it. Props to all the ladies who are in heels all day, I just can’t sometimes!
.Christmas is my favorite time of year. I love the cold weather, warm drinks and red and green decorations. I see my family a ton during this season which is probably why it’s one of my favorites!
.I’m not the best cook but I am getting better. When I first start to cook food for myself, I burned almost everything. It seems pretty simple to follow a recipe however, I always seemed to mess it up. Now, that Eric and I cook for ourselves 24/7, I have gotten a lot better. I now know that I can’t cook and watch TV at the same time. I get way too distracted and burn the food (speaking from experience here).
.I would choose frozen yogurt over ice cream any day. FroYo is my JAM! We live right next to a few frozen yogurt places so Hubs and I go there all the time. I like the soft serve texture better and frozen yogurt seems less heavy when compared to ice cream.
.Sour Patch Watermelons are my favorite candy EVER. I love sour, chewy candy and these are the perfect mix of both. I like the regular sour path kids, but the watermelons are the best.
.I prefer See’s Candy over Godiva chocolate. I have been eating See’s Candy since I was little and am completely in love. This is my favorite type of chocolate. I have always felt like Godiva has a weird taste to it.
